Practice Makes Perfect???

Every professional will say that they are good at their jobs because they put the effort into what they do.  I don’t believe this is 100% accurate.  Some people are naturally born all-stars and they are just that good to do what they want.  Look at Derek Jeter, he was born an all-star.  Growing up, he was such an amazing athlete at every sport he played and now he’s playing shortstop for the New York Yankees.  He did have to practice really hard to be a professional, but he was naturally born that way.  He was born with that ability to play baseball.  My mom is a paralegal and she never went to college to get her degree.  She never had that opportunity to go to college and learn the basics of what her job is.  She had to learn on the go.  Once she got a job somewhere, she had to learn from what everyone else was doing.  She still has a lot of learning to do but she still makes one great paralegal.  Most singers out there are pretty good.  They practice and practice every day but they are just naturally such a good singer.  They could keep warming up their vocal cords but they are still good enough to entertain the world.  So all of this information just proves that you don’t have to practice 10,000 hours to be good at something.  Sometimes, you are just born with a gift.  You don’t need the rule “Find someone to kick your butt if you fall off track” because you are your own person.  We are all in college now and you don’t someone holding your hand all the way through college.  If you feel like you are about to fail at something, you need to ask for help on your own because help will not be looking for you.  Most of the rules I do agree with but this one I will have to say is wrong.  You could be your own motivation.  Malcolm Gladwell is right about some things but when it comes to 10,000 hours, you don't need that much practice to be good at something.

My Dad, My Life !

Growing up with a family that never got along was pretty tough and wasnt easy on my part. The hardest part I ever had to overcome was when I was very young and my parents got a divorce.  I was too young to actually understand what it really meant, but when I started to grow up a little and understand everything, I took it pretty hard.  I wasn’t that close with my dad, but I don’t know what kid would be fine with their parents splitting up.  Once everything has happened, it took forever to get over the fact that I don’t live in a big happy family anymore.  When I turned 16, my dad has remarried and happier than he ever was.  The worst part of it all is that I don’t even see him anymore.  I will see him probably three times a month if I’m lucky.  Moving into college was also tough because I know my time with my dad is limited.  A week already went by living the college life and the last time I saw my dad was 2 weeks before I left for college.  I feel broken and I feel like there’s a hole in my heart.  How I am taking in all of this is that it’s time to grow up and get over the fact that the divorce happened over 15 years ago.  College made me realize that life is way too short to worry about the small things.  It feels like just yesterday I was starting my freshmen year of high school.  College is going to go by very fast and sooner than we know it, we will be walking that stage getting our degrees.  I need to stop thinking about the past and move forward to the future.  I need to focus on what’s right in front of me and keep everything else in the past.

World Of Blogging

After reading most of the blogs from our class, I have found out that a lot of us are really excited to actually be here and be in college.  I got very overwhelmed when I was unpacking all of my belongings and I was just surprised that I actually made it this far in life and now I think to myself that I can do anything.  I loved how everyone got into this blogging thing.  They didn't just sit down and type anything.  They actually thought about what they were going to say.  My thoughts on blogging, and no offense to other people, I seriously don't like it whatsoever.  It reminds me of facebook and everyone is updating their status about their lives. I don't mind blogging because I know this is for a grade but atleast make each blogging assignment fun and exciting to do.  Im sorry for anyone who I offended but I just don't like to blog. I have done it before and I never liked it.  I do have to admit that I like blogging way better than writing essays all of the time.  I think we should blog about what we believe in and about who we are as a person.  I think that would be such a good blog to write.  Everyone could get into the writing and say what they really want to say about themselves.  This will give everyone an opportunity to get to know each of our classmates.  We could write about what we love to do, what we hate, and just our feelings and such things like that.  We will get to know everyone and how they really feel about going away to school and living on campus.  But anyways, the other blogs I have read were pretty good compared to mine.  As you all could see, I like to complain A LOT. Everyone basically talked about how they are adjusting to the new life at SCSU and how its so much different from high school.  Im a little homesick but Ill get over it.  I guess Ill just have to deal and get through this semester...!!!!

C O L L E G E

Being a college student is such a huge accomplishment to me.  In my own eyes, I believe college is just a step in between high school and facing the real world on your own.  Once you are finished with college, you have so many choices you have to face.  Like, where to find a full time job, are you going to party every weekend like you did in college, or even like where are you going to live because most of us wont be willing to move back in with our parents.  these are just a few tough choices we all are going to have to face. This is just the beginning of our journey to living our own life and living under our own rules.  To me, life is about making mistakes because nobody is always perfect.  The college experience is everything to a student.  Living on campus gives you the opportunity to make new friends and even join different kinds of clubs.  Not everyone has the opportunity to live on a college campus because they may not be able to afford it, so it you are one of the lucky ones, live the life like its your last.  Don't miss out on anything.  This opportunity can actually help you have the strength to live on your own after college is over.  This can teach you how to take care of yourself and have a family of your own one day.  You will learn so much from everyone around you.    In the future, I want to have a family I can support and love.  I want to have a nice paying job and be debt free. A lot of people these days, dream about living the ultimate life but they cant because they are always paying for bills or even college tuition.  I want to make sure that I am financially stable.  My family wasn't one of those families where you got everything what you asked for.  we all had to earn what we wanted.  I grew up in a big family and money was always tight.  my mom's main goal for her kids was to give us a life she never had.  she had strict parents and she wants to be the total opposite when it comes to her kids.  I want to be just like her but without all of the money struggles.  You only live once, so you need to live your life with a big bang and don't let anyone ruin that for you.
